Stuff on my mind!

So about a month ago I must say I was offended for the first time in my life! By some crazy homeless person no less! Now let's back up and let me just say that I am not easily offended, AT ALL! I have very thick skin (compliments of mom and dad) so when people say extremely ignorant things to me or around me, I rarely pay them mind or take offense. This lady was different because she was oh so rude. I loathe rude people!! So the convo with this lady went like this:

Me: Hello welcome to 1st Presbyterian Church, how may I help you??

Crazy Homeless Lady: Yes when are the services held?

Me: We have 3 services on Sunday, 2 traditional and 1 contemporary. They are at 8:00 and 11:00. The contemporary is at 10:45

CHL: Wait slow down and say that again!

Me: We have 3 services on Sunday, 2 traditional and 1 contemporary. They are at 8:00 and 11:00. The contemporary is at 10:45

CHL: (With a rude tone) Ok ok ok Just say 2 services one at 8:00 and 11:00 that's all you have to say! Do you have global missions here??

Me: Yes we do

CHL: Are you from one of those countries?

Me: NO! I'm an American

CHL: Are you sure?

Me: Yeah, are you?? (In a rude tone)

CHL: Do you know who the Spurs are?

Me: (A WTF look on my face)

CHL: One Name Tim Duncan

Then she walked down the stairs and left. I've called a lot of crazy things in my life, but her sheer ignorance really pissed me off! Thanks the Lord above that I was working at a church, I had to catch myself and bite my tongue!

Speaking of rude people! I was at Chick-fil-a the other night waiting in line to order when an lady walks in and slams her drink down. I'm looking at her thinking, "I hope you don't think you getting in front of me because Chick-fil-a is my weekly crack fix and I will fight you!" One of the worker must have sensed this or they are just very good with customer service (probably the latter) and came to her aide and asked what they could do for her.

Well she then told them that those in the drive thru gave her the wrong drink and now she's late for work. The employee apologized, gave her the correct drink she ordered then offered her a free brownie for her troubles.

Instead if taking the delicious brownie, she snatched the drink and walked out! I was very tempted to tell her how rude she was, but decided that fighting in Chick-fil-a would not be very lady or Christ like! And that I really wanted my nuggets more than anything!!

Honestly, it YOUR fault you are late, if you had taken the time to leave early enough to go get food and go to work, you wouldn't be late now would you! Don't get mad at them because you suck at time management. Besides you needed that Diet Tea more than that Diet Dr. Pepper!

Ok and I'm done with my rant, of course til the next silly person comes along!

Bonjour!

So we just got back from St. Louis on a lovely trip to go see my family and friends. It was exhausting and wonderful at the same time. Driving from Chesterfield to UCity to see both families totally blows since a great part of the highway is shut down.

Everyone behaved(some of you reading this know what I'm talking about!)and a great time was had by all. Going back home makes you realize the little, simple things you had taken for granted. Like moms and dads, friends, nieces, nephews, sisters, brother, aunts and uncles, cousins and Pizza ago-go and Hunan House! Pictures are coming soon!

P.S. I'm made the decision to go back to school! SCARY!!!!!!!!

List!

So I'm going to take a page out of my friend Annie's book! She sometimes likes to make list when blogging, so I figured why not list the random thought in my head!!

1. I'm constantly have to remind myself that it IS October here in Texas not June. While I miss the smell of fall in St. Louis and the leaves and the cool breeze, I don't miss waking up to 30 degree weather!

2. I wish I wore socks today.

3. I still refuse to say ya'll!

4. I'd like to have as many kids as possible, then adopt.

5. Marriage is probably one of the hardest things I have ever gone through in my life, it's also the most rewarding.

6. I miss my nieces and nephews and hope that the smaller one recognize me when we go home for a visit.

7. Yes mister, I am married, happily married so would you kindly stop eye raping my from across the room?

8. I need a non mission trip vacation.

9. My birthday is tomorrow and I'm finding as I get older I care less about celebrating it.

10. I'm so proud of my husband!! Even though I don't tell him that and I guess I should.

Babies, Babies everywhere!

So it seems like everyone I know is with child! This whole "stages of life" is a strange thing to me. Not too long ago everyone was getting married, now they're all popping out kiddies. While I have a strong desire to have children, part of my is so selfish that I don't want to give up my freedom to do whatever, travel to wherever. I gave part of that up when I said I do, actually we both did, gladly. At this point, I'm torn, but I will have to quit wanting to plan this trip and that one and settled down in a sense. The hubby is more than ready! I find it so funny when it happens that way, I always thought I'd be ready first, but honestly I don't know that I really am.

So...

I'm debating on whether to delete this page considering I (we) don't get to update the blog that much, I guess I'll call it quits or starting updating it on a weekly basis. Decisions, decisions!

Been a long time... sorry

So it's been a long while since Shaun or I have updated this thing. Here is my attempt!

We have adjusted quite nicely to San Antonio and beside the digusting heat we like it here. I still don't have a job yet, but am doing some temp work for the moment at a church here. Shaun's work has become quite busy and will be for a while, he still enjoys it though. I will say Texas is a whole notha world!!!!! People really do make things up as they go!

Here are a few of the wonderful highlights since moving here, things I have learned.

1. People could care less if you have a horn when you are alerting them that they do not get to run the red light to turn left in front of you. Oh and that's the fourth car in a row that did it!

2. Blinkers are for suckers!

3. Some people are the nicest folks you'll ever meet! They actually wave and say hello first!!!

4. No one cares I'm married to a white man, weird looks are non existent.

5. Jean panties are all the rage! I know it's hot, but I really don't need to see your 12 yr old's butt cheeks! My daughters will wear potato sacks out if we still live here and they're that age.

6. All the emo kids live here.

7. Best Margaritas are here PERIOD!

8. The shoulder on the highway during traffic is considered another lane.

9. Leave your car for 2 minutes in the grocery store parking lot and it'll feel like you left it there for 3 hours.

10. Building a home is stupid cheap! So we did!

All in all we're liking it alot here. The best yet to come... I hope!

Update, Update!!!

Been a while since our last update, and a lot has happened…

After being in San Antonio for nine days, we took off for Rwanda for our second trip to the heart of Africa. The trip was very different from our last one for several different reasons. The most obvious was that we were in a refugee camp last trip, and this time we were in a village. We went with E3 Partners to the Eastern Province of Gahini. The Eastern side of the country is just as beautiful as the Western side. Overall the beauty of Rwanda is unmatched in our traveling experiences.

Our Ministry partners (native Rwandans) informed us that the region we were visiting had “hard hearts” compared to the rest of the country. Their warnings were very true, as we spent more time with fewer people than last year. You might expect this in most places, but in Rwanda most people are very agreeable. The challenged us as we presented the Gospel, and it a weird way I found it reassuring. I think I found it that way, because there questions verified that they were paying close attention to the message we brought.

In short, the trip was great, and many people heard the Gospel. We will write more about the trip later. We are adjusting to San Antonio well, since our return. DeeDee has been to two job interviews at Oak Hills (Max Lucado’s church), and is hopeful that she will get the job. She also interviewed at a pregnant girls home, Seton Home.

We have spent a lot of time looking for a house since we returned. We found a great neighborhood, but it is a bit more than we had hoped to spend, so we will see what happens.

We went to an amazing Steak house called the Grey Moss Inn for our two year anniversary, on Saturday night. In was in the beautiful hill country town of Helotes.

Its hot here!

Over and Out.

P.S. DeeDee will post pictures as soon as she stops being lazy!!!

We're Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone!

We arrived here in San Antonio after a long 18-hour drive. It took is 13 hours to get to Dallas, and another 5 to San Antonio. I guess we underestimated the terribleness of driving all your belongings across the country in an 22’ Penske truck. Thankfully, Mr. Walls (DeeDee’s Dad) drove the big truck all the way down! I drove the Black Bucket, and DeeDee drove the Blue Bonnet.

About an hour out of town I got word from my boss that his step-son and friend were going to be able to help us unload the truck. With their help it only took an hour. About half of our stuff is on storage, as we have downsized from a house to a one bedroom apartment. The apartment is great though, it has a beautiful pool and the grounds are about as nice as you could expect at an apartment complex.

We took DeeDee's parents to see the Historic King William district, and then we suffered the 90 degree heat and walked the Riverwalk. We also took her parents to visit my Grandma who lives down here. My uncle helped us out those first two days also, driving us around.

Today is day 4 and we are settling in very well. DeeDee is still looking for work, but is busy getting the house together. We leave for Rwanda in 6 days! Please be praying for us.

1st week observations:
1.) There is a BBQ place on every corner

2.) People are very nice down here

3.) The Texans are very sneaky when it comes to the open container law. I discovered that there is a drive-thru booze stop called Beer N' All in which you can order mixed drinks from your car. They just put a zip lock bag around it, and Bam, its a closed container!

4.) Its going to be a freaking hot summer

5.) Texas Hill Country is beautiful

More to come soon.

T-Minus 3 weeks! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So in exactly 19 days I (we) will be saying farewell to the Lou! It hasn't really hit me yet to be honest. I have traveled loads, but never have I lived away from here. San Antonio is going to be a whole notha animal!!!! I'm told I have an amazingly freakish ability to adapt very quickly to my surrounds and change, but I don't this will be so easy.

I'm leaving some of the most wonderful people in my lfe behind. No more just driving a few minutes to see them, so how do I do my best to see them now??? I feel like I've been running in circles and before I know all the time is lost and we're gone.

This move is a wonderful oppotunity for Mr. White and I to do some great things. I just pray I don't sob for a month straight.

More later...

Oh and I'm moving!

To San Antonio to be exact! It's kinda scary and sad and exciting! I'm pretty well traveled, but have lived in St. Louis my whole life. This is a HUGE change for me, while I am a "go with the flow" kind of girl this, however, is not too much in my comfort zone. I always thought I would live away from home in my college years, but such was not the case so I thought that it would never happen. Well the hubby Mr. White got a job in Texas of all places! Why couldn't be Chicago or somewhere I could drive 4-6 hours to come see family and friends????? This came out of nowhere! Why does Mr. White have to be such a great man of what he does that people just offer him jobs with alot more money and awesome benefits???? WEIRD!!!!

Just when we we ready to have little one running around, we have to move. Oh well, God is in control and knows what's best for us. I am pretty stoked (not sure of I like that word alot!) about being in a different culture though. You may be thinking "oh it's just Texas", but it's 65% latin so it will be a whole new world! Cool thing is that I'll be 5 hours from the beach!!! Not that I need to work on my tan or anything! HA!!!

Well that's all for now kids (although I'm sure Annie is the only one reading this!) Goodnight and until next time... Keep it nappy!

So... I was forced to start blogging!

Ok, ok I really wasn't forced, but my friend Annie has been getting on me to start one! This blog will just be random rabbling about my life, friends, family, gripes, praises and all the stuff that comes with blogging! So stay tunes for the next!

Keep it nappy ya'll!!!!!!
